The BariFloat is a wide, high-density foam mattress built for heavier patients — it takes up to 317kg, the highest weight rating in the Meditec range, and is 120cm across rather than the usual 86cm. The foam responds quickly as the person shifts and moulds to their shape, spreading weight over a larger area of the body. An Airlayer system moves air between the person and the foam to keep the surface cooler and drier. It needs no pump and no power. Rated for patients at risk through to high risk, with a breathable, waterproof four-way-stretch Dartex cover. Supplied with a 1-year warranty.

No, and this is the most important thing to check before ordering. The BariFloat is 120cm wide against the 85–86cm of a standard single mattress. It needs a bariatric or extra-wide bed frame. If you are not sure what width your bed is, measure the platform before you order or ring us and we will check it with you.
317kg, which is just under 50 stone. That is the highest rating in the Meditec mattress range, the next highest is the Mediflex at 200kg.
No. The BariFloat is a static foam-based bariatric surface, there is no pump, no power lead and nothing to plug in. That also means nothing to fail in a power cut.
The BariFloat is rated High Risk on the Waterlow scale, one band below the Very High Risk rating of the Mediair Turn, Q-PRO2000XT, Simplex Auto and Mediflex. For a bariatric patient who already has a pressure ulcer, speak to the nurse managing the wound before ordering, because risk rating and user weight have to be satisfied together.
Because there is no pump, no controller and no electronics, it is a static foam surface built wide and strong rather than an alternating air system. It solves a different problem: supporting a much heavier person, rather than actively moving pressure around.
The €819 price includes VAT. Where the mattress is bought for a person with a disability, Revenue's VAT 61A scheme may allow you to reclaim it afterwards. The link on this page explains how.
